SPRING RELEASE
THE DISSIDENT + WILD EYED + VIOGNIER + LOST SOUL
THE DISSIDENT
It’s no secret we love good music, and may even be inspired with labels by some songs from Pearl Jam (one of Mark’s favorite bands). We identify pretty heavily with “dissident” as you might find when you experience or visit us and our wines.
Some of Washington State’s finest vineyards have provided fruit for the 2020 THE DISSIDENT - Red Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon & Merlot from Red Willow and Olsen form the foundation. It compliments DEAD HORSE & LONG HAUL, built to offer approachability in younger years and developing in the cellar.
Past Accolades: 2019 - 93 Wine Enthusiast; 2018 - 91 Wine Enthusiast; 2017 - (92-94) Jeb Dunnuck; 2016 - #46 on Wine Spectator Top 100, 93 Wine Spectator; 2015 - 94 Wine Advocate, 93 Jeb Dunnuck
WILD EYED
This label is and always has been Syrah from Red Mountain since 2006. We love working with Syrah from this warmer climate, and pour a great deal of energy & finesse into making it bold and balanced every vintage.
A combination of four premium Syrah clones give us wonderful blending tools in the cellar. Clone 383 offers dark, brooding aromatics and flavors. Clone 174 brings expansive primary fruits and sweet spice. Clone 877 bridges the gap with beautiful layers of sweet fruit and a dark, savory core. The Phelps clone ties the wine together with it’s amazing purity and intense profile. Our goal with WILD EYED is to offer a glimpse of warmer climate Washington State Syrah.

VIOGNIER
We hold a special place in our heart for Viognier, and have been creating our VIOGNIER label for over 13 vintages. We select only the best fruit for this label in the winery, even if that means sacrificing a larger case production.
The 2021 VIOGNIER is sourced from two distinct sites both in the Yakima Valley AVA - Red Willow Vineyard on the far western edge of the AVA and Olsen Vineyard on the far eastern edge. The cooler climate and exceptional site at Red Willow produces wines that offer fantastic floral notes and citrus flavors. The warmer climate and great south facing slopes at Olsen produce wines with ripe melon and tropical fruit characteristics. The 2021 VIOGNIER spent 6 months aged in 59% stainless steel, 23% used French oak, 11% new French oak and 7% concrete egg.

LOST SOUL
Our LOST SOUL label has always come from Yakima Valley, representing the cooler side of Syrah. Red Willow has been our vineyard of choice for the past 10 years, and each vintage is crafted into our style in production – bold, balanced, cellar-worthy.
LOST SOUL is a combination of two distinct blocks planted on quite different soils. While the Wild Eyed represents the warmer climate side of Syrah, the LOST SOUL embodies the cooler side. We take a very hands-off approach with this wine. The wine is aged in thick staved 500-liter French oak barrels. Unique is the extended barrel aging program - it spends an additional 12 months in barrel, for a total of 30 months of aging.
